Beginning October 1, 2025, GIA transitioned from its previous laboratory-grown diamond grading reports to a new assessment system using descriptive terminology rather than the traditional GIA natural-diamond grading scale. Other laboratories continue to issue detailed 4Cs grading reports for lab-grown diamonds. For example, IGI’s laboratory-grown diamond reports identify the stone as laboratory-grown and provide assessments of its carat weight, color, clarity, and cut, along with other identifying information.
